Last updated: 13 October 2026 (Colorphrase 3.2)

Colorphrase is a Chrome extension that colour-codes text you select on a page, using Chrome's built-in language model (Gemini Nano), which runs on your computer. This page says what it handles and where that goes.

In short

What Colorphrase handles

Where it goes

Nowhere. The analysis runs in Chrome on your computer. Colorphrase has no server and makes no network requests. Chrome itself downloads its model from Google once, when you click "Download the model"; that download contains none of your text.

Versions before 3.0 could send text to an address you configured. Since 3.0 that is gone, and the addresses, API keys and model names those versions stored are deleted on update.
